Great list! Love that you included Empire of the Sun, I've seen them a couple times live. Try out their song "Wandering Star" they never promoted it but it's some of their best work musically and sonically, let me know what you think. Also I saw you included Joe Goddard, check out his song "Home," it's a great listen. I'll be writing another music article soon, would love to get your thoughts on that as well when I post it.Hey, I am a bit new to HiFi, and this is my first post on the MajorHiFi forum. I want to link my running list from Tidal of my favorite songs I love on my relatively new LCD-X's: https://tidal.com/browse/playlist/fc5d6837-a63c-4907-adc7-b49155dcd494
So glad you made the connection between James Blake and Sevdaliza!! I've always felt a lot of similarities in their sounds, and Retrograde may be one of my favorite songs of all time. Also can't believe you mentioned Concerning the UFO sighting near Highland, Illinois! I feel like that's a buried gem in Sufjan's discography. I will check out the rest of the tracks soonThanks for the suggestions Luke! I like both tracks a lot. Wandering star is on a couple playlists of mine.
I wanted to give some highlights of your playlist actually. I threw it on a few times and like it all pretty much, but here are some highlights I noted and other recommendations:
I am slowly compiling a new HiFi mix that I'll post here as soon as I fill it up.
- Sevdaliza - Darkest Hour: Very cool song, intricate and I love at the half way mark the spaciousness and bass used. Another song I like similar is James Blake - Retrograde
- Amon Tobin - Journeyman: Bonkers! It's a sonic roller-coaster in the best possible way! Another track I like similar to this is Mount Kimbie - Serged
- Mree - In the kitchen: A wonderful female vocal track. Beautiful melodies and atmospheric underbelly that is just perfect. Reminds me of Saint Sister - Twin Peaks
- Thom Yorke - Suspirium: Great song I have known for a while but "lost" it. I would recommend daily mail by him, but the stereo imaging isn't the best, but its still a lovely song. Another great track that is similar is Sufjan Stevens - Concerning the UFO sighting near Highland, Illinois
Anyways, I would love to keep diving more tracks and discussing them. Can't wait to see the upcoming article![]()
Am checking this out now, love Mree so much, definetly listen to her other stuff if you haven't. Also, I finally had time to do a follow up to my first article, here's the next one, let me know what you think!I've started a new Audiophile playlist on Tidal. I'm always adding my latest finds here for the time being
So glad you're enjoying the music! I just posted a follow up article with some more albums you might be into, Eartheater and Lafawndah are likely right up your alley if you liked Sevdaliza. I also wrote about the album Murmurations by Simian Mobile disco, which I used to test the PI7 when I reviewed them, and I haven't found an earbud that made that album sound as amazing as those did, so definitely recommend giving it a spin on the PI7.Hey guys, thank you for the playlists....I cant believe I never heard of Sevdaliza before and I am huge trip hop fan...I also forgot how good Phantogram is. I just ordered the B&W PI7 earbuds and I was looking for reviews and I came across this forum. Now I have tons of new music to demo the headphones with. My primary headphones is the B&W P9 signature so I am excited how B&W can make earbuds sound.
I'll have to make a audiophile play list to share with y'all, stay tuned.
